It’s rare that so soon after swooning over a P.T. Anderson movie that I get to start the process all over again. But someone out there is looking out and Anderson, who usually lets a few years go by between each film, is scheduled to start shooting his new movie, Inherent Vice this spring. Joaquin Phoenix was cast in the title role a while ago; then Benicio Del Toro & Owen Wilson joined him. And now Reese Witherspoon wants in on the fun. Let the Craig Dietz fanboy enthusiasm begin in 5,4,3,2,1…
The landscape of late night TV will shift considerably next spring when Jimmy Fallon takes over The Tonight Show for Jay Leno and Seth Meyers slides into replace Fallon as the host of Late Night. David Letterman’s contract also expires in 2014, leading some to speculate that he may be retiring soon himself. There is [...]
Jon and Erich Hoeber, who wrote “Red” and “Red 2,” have been tapped to write a third installment.
The Beastie Boys released a trailer Thursday for their 30-minute short ‘Fight for Your Right — Revisited’ in support of the trio’s forthcoming new album ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two.’ And it’s a doozy.
As MGM used to say, there’s more stars here than in the heavens: Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Rainn Wilson, Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Chloë Sevigny, Will Arnett, Kirsten Dunst, Maya Rudolph, Martin Starr, Laura Dern, David Cross, Orlando Bloom and Zach Galifianakis (not all are in the trailer — see who you can spot after the jump).
We haven’t seen the film — it premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival — but the video gives you an idea of the insanity that goes on.
Rogen portrays the Beasties’ Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Wood plays Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and McBride takes the role of Adam (MCA) Yauch in an exploration of what happened after the party in the group’s breakout 1986 video ‘(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party).’ There’s all kinds of wildness and havoc-making, especially when the trio meet up with themselves from 25 years in the future: Ferrell as Ad-Rock, Reilly as Mike D and Black as MCA. (In the movie, the fun is broken up by a trio of NYC cops, played by the Beastie Boys).
‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’ will be on store shelves May 3 but in the meantime the Beasties have provided a sample of one of the cuts, ‘Make Some Noise.’
Watch the video after the jump. But beware: it’s red-banded, meaning four-letter words.
How will The Office end? Don’t bother asking Ellie Kemper, who plays the spunky secretary Erin. "I don’t want to give away even … anything," she chirps during this sneak peek of the emotional goodbye. "I am very happy with what happens with, I think, every single character."
But here’s what we do know: On Thursday, the NBC series will offer its two-hour farewell in the form of a retrospective at 8 p.m. ET, and a 75-minute series finale at 9 p.m. ET. And, of course, we know a little bit about the final episode’s storyline, based on the trailer. According to the voiceover: "It’s six months down the road, and everybody’s back to celebrate Dwight and Angela’s wedding."
Oh, and we know one more thing, too — we sure are going to miss Dunder Mifflin. The employees hated it, but in many ways, it was a great place to work. Here’s why:
First off, there was all the "love triangle drama."
And we loved the policy on PDA. Watch here for a reminder:
Then there were the silly Internet trends the employees could never resist. Like planking. And, of course, that famous YouTube wedding dance. Nope, they just couldn’t resist spicing up Jim and Pam’s wedding.
And there were lots and lots of pranks on Dwight. Here’s a fun example…
And there was the rumor mill.
But most of all, there was the office romance.
The last thing we know for sure about The Office finale? We’re going to need some tissues. "Our very final scene was the whole cast," Angela Kinsey (Angela) told The Hollywood Reporter. "We were in the bullpen of the office. … It was Saturday night at nine o’clock at night. We knew all day this scene was coming and now we were finally in it. … We were emotional going into it and we all had to focus to get through the scene. Then our crew began to gather around the stage. And you could just feel that energy in the air. They yelled, "cut, cut," and [producer] Greg Daniels said, ‘That’s a series wrap on the cast of The Office.”
So long, TV friends.
